Also known as Llanbedr Church in Wales Primary, St Peter's is a church school situated in the delightful locality of the Grwyne Valley. The school is housed in its original building which dates from 1911 and was remodelled and extended in 1989. Modernisation has produced excellent facilities, for pupils, staff and the community. These include three classrooms, hall/gym, changing room, storage areas, library, fully-equipped gym and kitchen. Outdoor environment provides learning experiences for pupils: pond, garden, field, yard, nature area, climbing frames, willow structure, and secure play area for three-year-old children. One of 19 Church in Wales schools in the diocese of Swansea and Brecon, it maintains strong links with the local church at parish and diocesan level. Wide range of extra-curricular activities include rounders, table tennis, chess, football, netball, short tennis, badminton, volleyball, cycling proficiency, recorder, singing, watch club, art and computers, depending on the time of year. The school also runs a Scholastic book club on a half-termly basis. Pupils have the opportunity to go on many educational visits, some with other schools in the cluster group that feeds Crickhowell High School. A thriving Friends of the School organisation organises social and fund-raising events. The school aims to 'help children to develop the skills and knowledge necessary to become useful, caring members of an everchanging society within a happy, stable and safe environment'. Participating in three-year Comenius project, linking with Italy, Spain, Latvia and Poland. Welsh is taught as second language; pupils study Welsh history and culture. Pupils taught French, Spanish, and Italian; have opportunity to play variety of musical instruments. Breakfast club, from 8am; after-school care, until 4pm. Eco-school Green Flag award.
