A naturally bi-lingual primary, based eight miles to the west of Llanfair Caereinion in Powys. Opened in 1940 by Sir Wynn P Wheldon, secretary for Welsh affairs in the education authority; originally for pupils up to the age of 16. Substantial building which has a hall and community room attached to the school for the use of local inhabitants. School takes advantage of community facilities during the day. Serves an area which includes the villages of Y Foel, Llanerfyl, Llwydiarth and Llangadfan. Redbrick building surrounded by green fields; has a playground in front and two football pitches, four classrooms, a working kitchen and dining area. The language of the school is Welsh, but aims that all pupils are bilingual at 11. Extra curricular activities include gymnastic club, craft club, sports, book club, Welsh language course. Regular contact with parents. Not over-subscribed.
